He chased the Sun

The people of those times believed that the heavens could not be harnessed, that bodies of light and stone were gods, and the memory of all things was possessed by them alone. As time dragged on along the tracks of history, earth became wind and man became a great journey. It was then a man with no name was spotted, scaling the tops of mountains and traversing the deepest canyons. He flew with the wind at his back, as if all of his being drove him further and faster with each stride. He did not stop until he reached the land where the world ends and heaven begins. There he took up battle with the gods of stone and fire. For days their struggle raged, and the skies shook and split. This place is known only in legend, and when the man returned to his own kingdom, he too became the stuff of fantastic dreams. It's said that he'd achieved the unthinkable, that being defeated the sun had invested in him its qualities. It's said he was truly a god among lesser souls.

Finally decided to revisit this piece and polish it to the level that I believe it originally deserved. It was fun playing with new techniques after attempting the same re-visitation a few months ago and failing. I guess the practice is paying off
